IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (55) Pandora / HIP 37826 (Pollux) event on 2002 Apr 07, 09:41 UT Visible from Japan Summary ------- On the morning of 2002 Apr 07 UT, the 66 km diameter asteroid (55) Pandora will occult a 1.2 mag star in the constellation Gemini for observers along a path across Japan. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 11.8 mag to 13.0 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 4.8 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Ron Stone, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from AstDys, and the following catalogs for the star position: Hipparcos .
